In areas with no signal, your phone will use Wi-Fi to keep you connected. The great thing is, Wi-Fi Calling works in the background without you needing to download an app. Just follow these steps to get started with Wi-Fi Calling. One. Check you’ve got a compatible device. To see an up to date list of supported Android devices, go to Three.co.uk/Wificalling. Two. You need to be using a phone that was bought from Three. To check this, turn your phone off and on again. Does the Three logo appear? If it does, it means your phone was bought from us and you’ll be able to use Wi-Fi Calling. Three. Update your software. Depending on what version of Android you’re using, you might need to install an update for Wi-Fi Calling to work. To find out if you need to update your software, look for the Wi-Fi Calling toggle button in your phone’s settings. To do this, go to your phone’s dialling screen and tap the menu at the top. Find “settings” or “call settings” and look for the button that lets you toggle “Wi-Fi Calling” on and off. If you’ve got this option, you don’t need to update your software. If you do need to update your software, take a look at Device Support for help with how to do it. That’s it. Now when you connect to a Wi-Fi network and you’ve got no mobile coverage, you’ll see the Wi-Fi Calling icon at the top of your phone so you’ll know it’s working. Try making a call. Your phone will use the Wi-Fi network you’re connected to to make the phone call and send texts using your existing number. If your phone isn’t compatible, you can still make calls and send texts over Wi-Fi by using our Three inTouch app.
